Linda June Owen Ruby, 72, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2018 in her home in Houston, Texas surrounded by her family after enduring a long illness.

Linda was born on April 8, 1946 to Alzo Owen and Nina Wilkerson. Anchored by her faith in Christ, Linda embraced life with childlike enthusiasm and both a helper’s heart and a helper’s hands. Smiling, giving, comforting, Linda served the Lord with tender-loving grace. “Be ye kind one to another” defined her evergiving approach to life. Linda loved cooking everyone’s favorite meals, rooting for the Houston Astros and Kentucky Wildcats, collecting Little Golden Books and all things gingerbrea­d; but most of all, she loved her family.

Preceded in death by her father and Don Wilkerson, Linda is survived by her mother, Nina Wilkerson, and her husband of 52 years, Ken; their children, Jonathan (Ranae) Ruby and Eric (Michele) Ruby of Somerset, Kentucky, Ami Ruby of Houston, Texas; sister, Donna (Kris) English, and brother, David (Maria) Wilkerson of Mt. Washington, Kentucky; brother-in-law Tom (Gina) Ruby of Alexandria, Virginia; sisters- in-law Jan Cox, of Taylorsvil­le, Kentucky and Jean (Charlie) McCormick of Mt. Washington Kentucky; grandchild­ren, Jared Ruby, Mason Ruby, Taylor (Erin) Ruby, Raegan Ruby, Chaney Ruby, Bryan (Kayla) Carroll, Jessica Nelson, and Jon (Faith) Nelson; great grandchild­ren, Brayden Malachi Carroll, Juno Daniella Nelson, and due February 2019, Kenneth Wesley Ruby; nieces and nephews, Craig English, Brandy (Doug) Bledsoe, Catie (Kevin) Lamkin, Justin McCormick, Valerie (Bill) Drury, Waite (Nicole) McCormick, Meagan Ference, Tracy Jo Cox, John (Ashley) Ruby, and Greg (Trina) Ruby, as well as many beloved grand-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17th at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Mt. Washington Cemetery. Friends may visit from noon until 2 on Saturday. A celebratio­n of Linda’s life will be held in Houston at a later date.
