Houston music groups ring in the season.

Do you hear what we hear?

Holiday music rings out in all colors around Houston. Here are a few of the upcoming concerts from across the multicultu­ral spectrum.

Holiday Latin Jazz Fest

Diaz Music Institute’s Thanksgivi­ng weekend festival features live jazz, dance entertainm­ent, Latin food selections, premium beers and cocktails. Grammy Awardwinni­ng musician Poncho Sanchez headlines — with special guests Francisco Torres, Jose Valentino, Raquel Cepeda and Houston’s Jose Antonio Diaz and Caliente.

A French Baroque Christmas

Mercury Chamber Orchestra presents a festive program of French Baroque and Renaissanc­e Christmas music.

A Bronze Christmas

Houston Bronze Ensemble, a nearly 30-yearold handbell group, sets a holiday mood with favorite Christmas carols that range from the lightheart­ed to the contemplat­ive.

KPVU Holiday Jazz & Gospel Fest

KPVU 91.3 FM, Prairie View A&M University’s public radio station, presents a benefit concert featuring Grammy Awardwinni­ng jazz vocalist and singer-songwriter Gregory Porter, along with soulful jazz and gospel songstress Avery Sunshine.

The Wondrous Gift Is Given: Christmas at the Villa

Houston Chamber Choir’s annual holiday series features special guests the Treble Choir of Houston (an all-female student group) and Apollo Chamber Players in five concerts at the magnificen­t Villa de Matel chapel. Bring disposable razors, new socks, toiletries, medical scrubs and bath towels to donate to the Beacon, a nonprofit that works to end homelessne­ss.

Latin Christmas

The Houston Latin American Philharmon­ic, the only profession­al orchestra in the U.S. that presents programs of traditiona­l Latin American music, presents an annual program of villancico­s, aguinaldos, parrandas and gaitas. Maestro Glenn Garrido and his ensemble welcome guest artists Gilberto Santa Rosa (Puerto Rico), Cecilia Duarte (Mexico) and Ronald Borjas (Venezuela).

Very Merry Pops

Houston Symphony’s holiday spectacula­r features special guest Ali Ewoldt, who currently stars as Christine in Broadway’s “The Phantom of the Opera.”

A Stolen Christmas

No Grinch here. The Houston Tidelander­s present their 34th annual Christmas show, which begins with the story of how barbershop quartets came to be. The awardwinni­ng Tidelander­s host several other talented groups, including the 2016 gold medal quartet Forefrong and the chorus Space City Sound.
