Herrmann not on Astros’ tender list
The Astros did not tender a contract to catcher
Chris Herrmann before Friday’s 7 p.m. deadline, ending Herrmann’s 28-day tenure with his hometown team.
Herrmann, a Tomball native who attended Alvin Community College, was claimed off waivers from Seattle on Nov. 2. He now becomes a free agent.
The Astros have 10 arbitration eligible players remaining on their 40man roster, including pitchers Gerrit Cole, Chris Devenski, Will Harris, Lance McCullers Jr., Collin McHugh, Roberto Osuna, Brad Peacock and Ryan Pressly,
along with shortstop Carlos Correa and outfielder Jake Marisnick.
The club has until Jan. 11 to agree to salary terms with each player. Those who do not agree will go to arbitration hearings in February.
