Mary Carter Hill, age 71, died Friday, December 7, 2018 after a courageous battle with leukemia. The daughter of Robert Daniel Carter and Mary Hall Carter, Mary was born in Austin, Texas on February 5, 1947. She was a graduate of W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas and a graduate of the University of Texas where she was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Mary was always on the move. Whether she was exercising at the Briar Club, playing bridge with friends or attending bible study, she treasured time spent with loved ones. She was so very proud of the accomplish­ments of her family and friends and was everyone’s biggest cheerleade­r. Mary will be remembered for her fun loving spirit and positive attitude even in the face of adversity.

She is predecease­d by her husband of 32 years, Stuart Gibson Hill, and her parents. The oldest of three children, Mary is survived by her daughter, Lizzie Hill Ellis (Jon), her brother, Robert Daniel Carter II (Geumsoon) and sister, Anne Howard Carter.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Marin and MD Anderson Cancer Center for their loving care of Mary during her illness.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 18, at 10:00 am in the sanctuary at St. John the Divine, followed by a reception in Sumners Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
