Mirrors: A reflection of good taste

Styles for the home range from the classics to works of art

Mirrors can do magical things to a room. They reflect light, make spaces look larger and, of course, more beautiful. This selection of new mirrors on the market is suitable for just about any room in your home.

1. ANTIQUED:

Gilt moldings encase this antiqued mirror by John Richards. $3,150; Design House

2. BLACK-AND-WHITE REVIVAL:

Hand-lacquered pieces in black and white are laid in a black-and-white checked pattern used in the early designs of Italian designer Piero Fornasetti in this round Egocentris­mo Convex mirror. $972; amara.com

3. THE BUTLER DID IT:

Alain Gilles shows his sense of humor in his “Geoffrey” mirror — a nod to the butler in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” TV series — for Ligne Roset’s 2018 collection. 4. ETHEREAL BEAUTY:

5. SIMPLE ELEGANCE:

Ronana and Erwan Bouroullec’s Officina floor mirror — designed for Magis — commands a special place in the corner of your bedroom or closet. Encased in forged iron, its slight imperfecti­ons convey a refined and elegant spirit. $1,480; Sunset Settings

6. SHINING EXAMPLE:

A mirror designed by Naoto Fukasawa is guaranteed to be anything but boring. The Déjàvu mirror he created for Magis is made of polished lightweigh­t aluminum and comes in a wall or floor design. Wall mirror, $1,592-$1,637, or floor mirror, $2,010; Sunset Settings

7. MIRROR DÉCOR:

Modern décor calls for a similar eye in a decorative modern mirror, and Pierre Charpin’s “Ura” for Ligne Roset delivers. The round (22 or 30 inches) design features a brushed stainless-steel hook in the center and an edge finished in rouge noir lacquer. Small, $490, or large, $765; Ligne Roset

8. CHEMISTRY LESSON:

A moody frame of metallic browns and blues surrounds plain glass in Arteriors’ Paris mirror. 9. NATURAL RESOURCES:

12. HIGH-GLOSS GLAM:

13. ARCHITECTU­RAL STYLE:
