Correctness

-

Regarding “Governor digs in, refusing to resign as outcry grows” (Sunday morning, Feb. 3): If the “court of public opinion” is successful in getting the resignation of every elected official who has had some prior unintentional indiscretion in their life then eventually we will run out of politicians and future politicians. It doesn't even have to be an indiscretion; it just has to be perceived as one to get somebody kicked out of office.

Has society gotten so bloodthirsty that no amount of a sincere apology is acceptable, even though there was no intent to discriminate or insult anybody at the time the indiscretion was committed?

Political correctness will be the death of our society at the rate we are going. Anybody can be offended for any reason, and it will be politically correct to have that person ruined or that person lose his livelihood. Robert M. Louie, Houston
