Tech whips Oklahoma St. to stay on a roll

STILLWATER, Okla. — Jarrett Culver scored 19 points, and No. 15 Texas Tech defeated Oklahoma State 78-50 on Wednesday night.

Matt Mooney scored 15 points and Tariq Owens added 11 for the Red Raiders (20-5, 8-4 Big 12), who have won five of six.

Cameron McGriff scored 18 points for Oklahoma State (9-15, 2-9), which has lost seven of eight.

Tech shot 9 for 14 from 3-point range in the first half to take a 44-23 lead at the break. Mooney made all four of his 3s.

Tech erased any doubts by holding Oklahoma State scoreless for the first six minutes of the second half.

Kai Mitchell hit a free throw with four seconds remaining to push the Bearkats past the host Islanders to continue their perfect run in Southland Conference play.

Chad Bowie's 3-pointer with 56 seconds left gave Sam Houston a 69-66 lead with 56 seconds left. Jashawn Talton converted a 3-point play to tie it at 69 with 31 seconds to go before Mitchell won it bymaking the second of two free-throw attempts.

Cameron Delaney scored 19 points to lead Sam Houston State (16-8, 11-0 Southland).

HOUSTON BAPTIST 75 CENTRAL ARKANSAS 71

Ian DuBose hit a tiebreakin­g 3-pointer in the final minute as the Huskies pulled off the road victory after squanderin­g a 16point lead.

After leading 62-46, Houston Baptist (8-14, 4-7 Southland) went cold and Central Arkansas eventually tied the game at 71 with a minute to play. DuBose hit his 3 and later added a free throw to give the Huskies the victory.

Ty Dalton had a season-high 21 points plus 10 rebounds for HBU. DuBose finished with 19.

TENNESSEE 85 SOUTH CAROLINA 73

Admiral Schofield had 21 points and 10 rebounds as the No. 1 Volunteers defeated the Gamecocks at Knoxville, Tenn., for their school-record 19th consecutiv­e victory.

Tennessee (23-1) is 11-0 in SEC play for the first time.

South Carolina (12-12, 7-4) made a season-high 14 3-point baskets but couldn't slow Tennessee's high-powered offense.

VILLANOVA 85, PROVIDENCE 67

Eric Paschall scored 20 of his 25 points in the second half and the No. 13 Wildcats rebounded from their first Big East loss by running away from the Friars at Villanova, Pa.

FLORIDA STATE 88 WAKE FOREST 66

Christ Koumadje, a 7-4 senior, recorded his first career doubledoub­le, with 20 points and 12 rebounds, to help the No. 17 Seminoles win at home.

Jahmal McMurray scored 22 points, but it didn’t prevent the visiting Mustangs from losing their fifth in a row.

Women BAYLOR 71, KANSAS STATE 48

Chloe Jackson scored 16 points and the No. 1 Lady Bears used a good shooting night and solid defense to rout the Wildcats at Manhattan, Kan.

Juicy Landrum added 15 points for Baylor (22-1, 12-0 Big 12 Conference), which beat Kansas State for the 31st straight time. Baylor also has won 35 Big 12 regular season games in a rows.

NOTRE DAME 97 BOSTON COLLEGE 47

Arike Ogunbowale scored 23 points and Brianna Turner had 19 as the No. 6 Fighting Irish coasted to victory at Boston.

TCU 76, IOWA STATE 69

Lauren Heard scored a careerhigh 27 points, including two clinching free throws with 26 seconds left, and the Horned Frogs upset the No. 18 Cyclones at Fort Worth.

Amy Okonkwo added 17 points and 13 rebounds for TCU (18-6, 8-5 Big 12).
