Hyland’s homer carries UH to win
Kobe Hyland hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting the University of Houston to a 5-3 walkoff victory over Northwestern State in the teams’ season opener Friday night at Schroeder Park.
Hyland’s blast capped a furious comeback for the Cougars, who trailed 3-0 after five innings before scoring five runs over the final four innings. Joe Davis hit a tying three-run homer off Demons reliever Kyle Swanson in the sixth inning.
