The Texans signed former Cleveland tight end Darren Fells to a one-year contract after his visit Monday, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.

Fells, 32, played in every game for the Browns last season and caught 11 passes for 117 yards and three touchdowns.

Fells (6-7, 270) would add blocking skills to the Texans’ current group of tight ends — Ryan Griffin, Jordan Thomas and Jordan Akins.

For his career, which includes stops with Detroit and Arizona, Fells has caught 68 passes for 830 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Texans also worked out former Cincinnati offensive tackle Jake Fisher, who is trying to become a blocking tight end.

Fisher, a former secondround pick, is scheduled to work out for other teams later this week.

Former Raiders QB McCarron drops by

Former Oakland quarterback A.J. McCarron visited the Texans on Monday, according to a league source.

The Texans have no quarterbacks on the roster behind Deshaun Watson. Brandon Weeden and Joe Webb are unsigned.

McCarron, 27, is a former fifth-round draft pick of Cincinnati and backup to starter Andy Dalton.

The former Alabama standout was signed by Buffalo to a two-year, $10 million contract before being traded to the Raiders last year for a fifth-round pick.

McCarron, who was cut by Oakland last week before a $3 million roster bonus came due, played in two games last season for the Raiders.

For his career, McCarron has passed for 928 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions and rushed for two scores.

Ex-Bills OT Mills visits; Penn on radar

Former Buffalo offensive tackle Jordan Mills visited the Texans on Monday, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.

Mills is a former Chicago fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech. After being signed off Detroit’s practice squad, the 6-5, 314-pounder joined the Bills and signed a two-year, $4 million deal.

He has started 48 games for Buffalo over the last three seasons.

The Texans also have interest in former Oakland tackle Donald Penn, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.

Penn, 35, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, has drawn interest from several teams since being released by the Raiders.

The Texans could use upgrades to an offensive line that allowed an NFL-high 62 sacks as quarterback Deshaun Watson was under heavy duress most of the year.

Penn spent the last five years with Oakland after a stint with Tampa Bay.

He allowed just 16 sacks over his first four seasons with the Raiders and was signed to a two-year, $21 million contract extension in 2017.

Last season, he was shifted to right tackle after Oakland drafted Kolton Miller. Pen injured his groin, ending his season after four games.

Penn wrote on Instagram that he intends to keep playing.

“This game is a crazy journey, but I love it unconditionally,” Penn said. “Looking forward to the next chapter of my career — I’ve got a lot of football LEFT!”
