Burfict’s tenure with Bengals over

-

Cincinnati released oft-suspended linebacker Vontaze Burfict, whose career was marked more by his behavior than his tackling skills.

In his seven years with the Bengals, he was suspended by the NFL to start each of the last three seasons, mostly for egregious hits that violated the league’s player safety rules.

The most notable incident in which Burfict was involved might have been when he and Adam “Pacman” Jones got 15-yard penalties in the 2015 playoffs that set up a Steelers field goal with 14 seconds left for an 18-16 victory.

Burfict, who was undrafted out of Arizona State, played in 75 games with 73 starts. He made 684 tackles, had 8½ sacks, five interceptions, 33 passes defensed, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He made the 2013 Pro Bowl. In other news:

• Philadelphia agreed to a one-year contract with safety Andrew Sendejo, who was released by Minnesota earlier in the month. Sendejo, a nineyear veteran who was undrafted out of Rice, has played in 99 career games, including playoffs, and has 432 tackles, seven interceptions and 31 passes defensed. .

• Green Bay re-signed veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis. A 13-year veteran, Lewis played in all 16 games last season but had only three receptions for 39 yards. He was signed in 2018 to hep block in the Packers’ running game, but the offense ranked 22nd in the league on the ground. L In 12 seasons with Jacksonville, Lewis, 34, played in 170 games with 157 starts and had 4,502 career receiving yards and 33 touchdowns.

• Guard-center Chris Reed signed with Miami, which lost three offensive linemen in free agency. Reed spent four seasons with Jacksonville, where he made eight starts and played in 25 games.
