OAKLAND, Calif. — Jurickson Profar and Josh Phegley homered off former Oakland starter Trevor Cahill, and the Athletics rolled to their 10th straight win, 8-5 over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday.
Profar tied the game with a two-run homer in the fourth against Cahill, and Phegley gave the A’s the lead for good with a leadoff shot in the fifth.
REDS, PIRATES SPLIT: Jose Iglesias hit his first career grand slam off Mitch Keller in the righthander’s major league debut, and host Cincinnati beat Pittsburgh for a split of the teams’ day-night doubleheader. Pittsburgh rallied for an 8-5 victory in the opener.
MARLINS 3, NATIONALS 2: Jose Urena pitched seven solid innings, and Miami beat the host Nationals to avoid a four-game sweep.
YANKEES 5, PADRES 2: Clint Frazier, Brett Gardner and Gary Sanchez homered, Manny Machado was booed and greeted with chants of “Over-rated!” in his first visit to New York since free agency, and the Yankees beat San Diego for their eighth win in nine games.
RED SOX 12, INDIANS 5: Sandy Leon hit a three-run homer off Oliver Perez after Cleveland reliever caused an odd stoppage asking for new footwear, J.D. Martinez homered twice, and Boston won at Fenway Park.
RAYS 8, BLUE JAYS 3: Yonny Chirinos was pulled after five no-hit innings, and host Tampa Bay beat Toronto.
ORIOLES 5, TIGERS 3: Renato Nunez and Jonathan Villar homered, and host Baltimore defeated Detroit.
BREWERS 5, TWINS 4: Orlando Arcia drove in three runs, including a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning that powered Milwaukee past host Minnesota.
ROCKIES 4, DIAMONDBACKS 3: Raimel Tapia singled in the winning run in the 11th inning to give Colorado a walkoff victory over Arizona.
DODGERS 9, METS 5: Cody Bellinger, Chris Taylor and Kike Hernandez each homered, and Los Angeles defeated Jacob deGrom and visiting New York.
MARINERS 6, RANGERS 2: Daniel Vogelbach homered, Mallex Smith stole four bases, including a swipe of home, and Seattle defeated visiting Texas.
WHITE SOX-ROYALS SUSPENDED: Yolmer Sanchez hit a tying single, then entertained his Chicago teammates with a dugout show during a long rain delay before the White Sox’s game against visiting Kansas City was suspended in the fifth with the score 1-all. The teams will pick up Tuesday where they left off, with two outs in the bottom of the fifth and a runner on second.
ODDS AND ENDS: Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia will take an “indefinite leave” in his long struggle to recover from knee trouble, putting in doubt whether he’ll play again in the majors. … The Arizona Diamondbacks put righthander Luke Weaver on the 10-day injured list with forearm tightness.
