A woman’s ex-boyfriend was at the center of a shooting spree Tuesday that left him and two others dead, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff ’s Office.

The former boyfriend, Juan DeLeon Jr., 42, died Tuesday night at an area hospital where he had been taken with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the sheriff ’s office tweeted.

The woman was also shot, but her injuries are not life-threatening, officials said.

They have not yet released the names of the victims. The sheriff’s office identified the deceased as the woman’s parents.

Officials said the shooting included multiple locations around the 5100 block of Navajo Street near the community of Pleak, south of Rosenberg.

The incident was first reported around 2:40 p.m., when a road and bridge employee reported a man firing shots at a woman while they were driving in separate cars. DeLeon was reportedly shooting at the woman from behind her car during the pursuit, officials said.

When Fort Bend County deputies arrived at the scene, they found the woman’s car stopped at Texas 36 and Comanche Blvd, near the Horseshoe Bend Village neighborhood. She asked the deputies to check on her parents, who deputies later found dead inside their home on Navajo Street, officials said.

DeLeon, who lived nearby, had already shot himself when deputies arrived at the scene. He was found inside a car in a field near his house and was taken to the Texas Medical Center, authorities said.

Investigators are still trying to piece together the shooting timeline. They don’t know when the alleged shooter started chasing the woman or when her parents were slain.

Officials with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said they had no record of previous calls for service at the home of the parents or DeLeon’s.

A neighbor who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said they went to high school in Rosenberg with the wounded woman. The neighbor described the woman’s parents as “always really nice” but private people.

The neighbor said yelling was heard Monday morning coming from the home.

“For the most part, I felt like it’s a good, quiet neighborhood,” the neighbor said. “Everybody stays to themselves.”
