Defeat is club’s seventh in eight matches

CHESTER, Pa. — The summer swoon continues for the Dynamo after a 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Union on Sunday.

The Dynamo (9-13-3, 30 points) have lost seven of their last eight MLS matches.

Philadelphia took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when Kacper Przybylko and Haris Medunjanin combined for a series of passes just outside the 18-yard box, with Przybylko slipping into the box and receiving a final pass from

Medunjanin for a low shot that slipped past Dynamo goalkeeper Joe Willis.

Forward Christian Ramirez, playing in his first game with the Dynamo after being traded from Los Angeles FC on Wednesday, tied the match in the 42nd. DaMarcus Beasley played a cross to Ramirez at the top of the area, where he flipped it up and then rifled a volley inside the post and past Union goalkeeper Andre Blake.

Jack Elliott’s header gave Philadelphia (13-7-6, 45 points), which has won three of its last four, the lead for good in the 78th minute. Jamiro Monteiro played a high entry to the center of the area, where a clearance attempt deflected off Elliott and bounced off the crossbar before he headed it into an empty net.

The Dynamo just missed getting the equalizer late in the match when Niko Hansen, the former Columbus winger who was making his Houston debut, carried the ball diagonally across the middle of the field before laying it off and receiving a return pass along the right flank. Hansen drove to the byline and delivered a low ball to the penalty spot, but forward Alberth Elis’ shot didn’t make it through traffic to the goal.
