NFL POWER RANKINGS
WEEK 8
New England 7-0 (Week 7 ranking: 1): The Patriots continued their cupcake schedule by shutting out the Jets. Cleveland is the next victim.
New Orleans 6-1 (2): The Saints are 5-0 since Teddy Bridgewater replaced Drew Brees. The Arizona game could be Bridgewater’s last start.
Green Bay 6-1 (4): Aaron Rodgers threw five TD passes in the Packers’ win against Oakland. They have a prime-time game at Kansas City.
San Francisco 5-0 (5): The NFC’s only undefeated team is coming off a win at Washington and tries to make it seven in a row vs. Carolina.
Baltimore 5-2 (9): Lamar Jackson led an upset at Seattle by rushing for more than 100 yards. The Ravens have a well-deserved week off.
Kansas City 5-2 (8): The Chiefs would love to see backup QB Matt Moore have similar success to what Teddy Bridgewater has experienced.
Buffalo 5-1 (7): After defeating Miami, the Bills get another home game against Philadelphia. The Eagles are coming off a loss at Dallas.
Seattle 5-2 (3): After losing to Baltimore, the Seahawks should be able to rebound with a win over the hapless Falcons.
Minnesota 5-2 (12): Kirk Cousins is playing like the quarterback the Vikings expected last year. Running back Dalvin Cook has been outstanding.
Indianapolis 4-2 (11): The win over the Texans gave the Colts a half-game lead in the AFC South. They should have no trouble with Denver.
Carolina 4-2 (10): The surprising Panthers are coming off their open date with what should be a difficult road game against San Francisco.
Houston 4-3 (6): A tough loss at Indianapolis left the Texans with a banged-up secondary. The defense will be tested by Oakland’s Derek Carr.
Dallas 4-3 (16): Jerry Jones can sleep better during the open date because the Cowboys broke their three-game losing streak against the Eagles.
L.A. Rams 4-3 (14): A 27-point win at Atlanta ended the Rams’ three-game losing streak. They should get an easy win vs. Cincinnati in London.
Oakland 3-3 (13): The Raiders allowed Aaron Rodgers to throw five TD passes. Deshaun Watson would love to duplicate that feat.
Philadelphia 3-4 (15): Doug Pederson guaranteed a win at Dallas, but the Eagles got blown out. They’ll try to recover on the road vs. Buffalo.
Arizona 3-3-1 (20): Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray have a three-game winning streak after beating the Giants.
Chicago 3-3 (17): The Bears passed up Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson for the struggling Mitch Trubisky. It’ll haunt them for years.
Tennessee 3-4 (23): In his first start in place of the benched Marcus Mariota, Ryan Tannehill led a victory over the Chargers. Next up: the Bucs.
Jacksonville 3-4 (25): The Jaguars are coming off a victory at Cincinnati. They should beat the Jets for a second straight win to even their record.
Pittsburgh 2-4 (21): Talk about a dud Monday night game. The Steelers are coming off their open date, and they’ll be hosting the Dolphins.
Detroit 2-3-1 (18): The Lions showed some early promise in Matt Patricia’s second season, but they’ve reverted to their same old losing ways.
Cleveland 2-4 (22): After their open date, the Browns’ Murderer’s Row schedule continues with a road game against the undefeated Patriots.
Denver 2-5 (19): The Broncos’ offense is awful. Fans are angry at John Elway and Vic Fangio. The Joe Flacco experiment has been disastrous.
L.A. Chargers 2-5 (24): They are coming off a tough loss at Tennessee. Melvin Gordon has been bad after one of the worst holdouts in history.
N.Y. Giants 2-5 (26): The Giants travel to Detroit in a game between two slumping teams coming off disappointing defeats. The Lions should win.
N.Y. Jets 1-5 (27): They were shut out by the Patriots. They visit Jacksonville, where Gardner Minshew has been a revelation.
Atlanta 1-6 (28): It’s almost amazing what’s happened to the Falcons since they lost the Super Bowl to New England.
Washington 1-6 (29): Interim coach Bill Callahan is finding out what Jay Gruden learned the hard way: There’s a lack of talent on this team.
Tampa Bay 2-4 (30): The Bucs are returning from their open date. They play at Tennessee. It’s time for Jameis Winston to show consistency.
Cincinnati 0-7 (31): The Bengals suffered an embarrassing home loss to Jacksonville. They’ll get embarrassed again by the Rams in London.
Miami 0-6 (32): In what turned out to be a decisive loss at Buffalo, the Dolphins actually led in the first half, a rare experience.
