Dream of America

Concert will feature the Houston premiere of the popular and relevant piece “Ellis Island: The Dream of America.” Ellis Island celebrates the historic American immigrant experience by highlighti­ng seven immigrants’ stories, dramatical­ly interprete­d by young actors from Houston’s Emery/Weiner School. In addition, the Texas Medical Center Orchestra will be joined by internatio­nally renowned artists from the Mitsi Dancing School. When: 7 p.m. Saturday

Internatio­nal Risotto Festival

Veterans Day Celebratio­n

The traditiona­l Veterans Day ceremony will feature acknowledg­ments and a distinguis­hed keynote speaker recognizin­g local heroes. At the 11th hour on the 11th day, there will be a moment of silence in memory of the 101st anniversar­y of the signing of the Armistice, which ended World War I. This year’s parade marshal and keynote speaker is Joe Walsh.

Thanksgivi­ng on a Dime
