Texas update: Sophomore safeties Caden Sterns (knee) and B.J. Foster (shoulder) have been cleared to play. Senior linebacker Jeffrey McCulloch (shoulder) and sophomore safety DeMarvion Overshown (shoulder) are game-time decisions. Freshman tailback Jordan Whittington (groin) also could make his first appearance since the season opener. … One season after finishing second in the Big 12 with 24 sacks, Texas is last through five games. Only one sack has come from a defensive lineman, senior end Malcolm Roach. … Sam Ehlinger’s four-interception outing against Kansas brought his season total to seven on 303 passes. Last season he was intercepted five times on 425 attempts.
Kansas State update: The nation’s No. 18 passing defense will be without top cornerback A.J. Parker (ankle). Parker leads K-State with five pass breakups and three interceptions and is fifth on the team with 28 tackles. … Graduate transfer tailbacks Jordon Brown and James Gilbert combined for 191 total yards and one score in a win over Oklahoma, but Gilbert missed last week’s game against Kansas with an injury, and Brown was knocked out of the game after two carries. K-State offensive coordinator Courtney Messingham said he believes both will be cleared for Saturday’s game. … Junior QB Skylar Thompson has been on fire of late. During the Wildcats’ three-game winning streak, he’s thrown for 514 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and has rushed for 234 yards and eight scores.
