Nebo, French key Texas A&M comeback

COLLEGE STATION — Josh Nebo scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, and walk-on guard Mark French led a second-half rally to help Texas A&M hold off Troy 56-52 at Reed Arena Wednesday night.

The Aggies (3-1) trailed by nine early in the second half before Nebo and French led the comeback. French, a senior, scored a career-high 12 points, all in the second half, including a game-tying 3-pointer and an assist on the final goahead basket.

“He’s (head coach Buzz Williams) kind of vague with it,” French said of starting. “Whoever’s turn it is, you have to go be productive and that’s what I tried to do.”

Darian Adams led the Trojans (1-4) with a careerhigh 20 points.

Jordan Nwora scored 28 points to lead No. 2 Louisville to 76-50 home victory against South Carolina Upstate.

Armando Bacot had season highs of 22 points and 14 rebounds, and fellow freshman Cole Anthony flirted with North Carolina’s first triple-double in 19 years as the fifth-ranked Tar Heels beat Elon 75-61 in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Anthony finished with nine points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for North Carolina (4-0).

Precious Achiuwa had 16 points and 12 rebounds as No. 16 Memphis beat Little Rock 68-58 at home.

Markquis Nowell led the Trojans (3-2) with 16 points.

Jordan Bowden scored 16 points to lead four Volunteers in double figures as No. 20 Tennessee beat Alabama State 76-41 for its 29th straight home victory. Tennessee (4-0) owns the longest active Division I home winning streak.

Joyner Holmes scored 19 points to lead the Texas women past Texas-Rio Grande 85-69 in Austin.

Cate Reese had 20 points in the Arizona women’s 83-48 victory over Prairie View A&M in Tucson, Ariz.
