Reds add Miley on 2-year deal

- From staff and wire reports

Lefthander Wade Miley is in agreement with the Cincinnati Reds on a twoyear contract worth $15 million, a person familiar with the deal said on Monday.

The move ends Miley's Astros tenure after one season and takes another starting pitcher off the freeagent market. Houston has now lost two of its three pitchers who tossed more than 100 innings for the club last season. Between Miley and Gerrit Cole, 3792⁄3 innings have departed.

Signed to a one-year, $4.5 million contract last January, Miley was magnificent for six of his seven months as an Astro. He entered September as the team's unquestioned fourth starter — carrying a 3.06 ERA into the season's final month.

September sunk Miley. In five starts, he threw just 111⁄3 innings. Twice, he did not finish the first. . The continued ascension of rookie righty Jose Urquidy in the interim meant Miley's services were in short demand. He did not make the team's ALCS or World Series roster and finished 14-6 with a 3.98 ERA.

Mets put Porcello in strong rotation

Porcello was 14-12 with a 5.52 ERA in 32 starts last year, his fifth season with Boston. His best year for the Red Sox was 2016, when he went 22-4 and won the AL Cy Young. In other baeball news:

Coyotes land former MVP Hall

The Arizona Coyotes are looking to end their lengthy playoff drought by adding a player desperate to get back to the postseason himself.

Arizona acquired standout winger Taylor Hall from the New Jersey Devils for three prospects and two draft picks. The Coyotes will try to end their seven-year playoff drought by adding the 2018 NHL MVP who has made the postseason just once in his first nine seasons.

Hall goes to the Coyotes along with Blake Speer in exchange for forward prospects Nick Merkley and Nate Schnarr, defensive prospect Kevin Bahl, a 2020 first-round pick and a conditional thirdround pick in 2021. The third-rounder becomes a second-rounder if the Coyotes win a playoff round or Hall re-signs and elevates to a first if both those things happen.

Hall, 28, has six goals and 19 assists in 30 games this season. He put up 93 points in 76 games during his MVP season.
