State champ QB chooses Baylor

Shadow Creek junior quarterbac­k Kyron Drones has committed to Baylor.

The 6-2, 195-pound three-star recruit is the 17th-ranked dual-threat QB in the in the country according the 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Drones led the Sharks to a 16-0 record and Class 5A Division I state championsh­ip in 2019.

It was his first year as a starter under center, taking over for Jamarian George. Drones didn’t disappoint with 3,390 yards and 46 touchdowns to 10 intercepti­ons on 199-of-345 passing. He also rushed for 825 yards and another 18 TDs on 134 carries.

Drones’ recruitmen­t since the state title game in December skyrockete­d to 25 offers, including Auburn, Ole Miss, TCU and Pittsburgh among others. In other news:

• Texas A&M has received a pledge from linebacker Kaci Seegars from Charlotte, N.C.

A&M had three commitment­s for most of this year but abruptly now have five following this week’s verbal pledges by Seegars and defensive end Jahzion

Harris of Brooklyn, N.Y.. Four of the pledges are four-star prospects, including Harris, receiver

Shadrach Banks of North Shore, quarterbac­k Eli

Stowers of Denton Guyer and offensive lineman

Trey Zuhn of Fort Collins, Colo., while Seegars is a three-star recruit according to 247Sports.com.

• University of Houston offensive tackle Jarrid

Williams plans to play for another program next season as a graduate transfer.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Williams said his decision was “difficult” but was best for his future. A two-year starter, the 6-7, 305-pound Williams was granted a medical hardship waiver for a sixth year of eligibilit­y in December.
