FOOD ASSISTANCE Community First food drive:
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s office is hosting a county-wide food drive to benefit the Montgomery County Food Bank. Drop off food to help others from 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. April 30 at 32878 FM 2978 and 19100 Unity Park in Magnolia and 9200 Grogans Mill in The Woodlands. Requested items include oatmeal, juice, canned meats, vegetables and fruits, peanut butter, rice and beans, boxed snacks and boxed pasta. Bar soap, paper towels, toilet paper and toothpaste are also needed.

If you’re cleaning out closets and need to take them somewhere, get rid of your stuff and help the Earth at the same time. Re-use old shipping boxes to pack up unwanted clothes and goods for donation to Goodwill. Go to jcp.com/givebackbox for a pre-paid shipping label and schedule a pick-up.
JOBS Katy ISD:
The Katy school district is taking its annual teacher job fair online, with applications and interviews all happening virtually. Register from 7 a.m. May 4 through 5 p.m. May 5. You’ll need to have completed all TEA/SBEC exams for the teaching position you’re pursuing. Interviews are expected to be conducted via Zoom

FINANCIAL AID Episcopal Health Foundation:
The foundation is awarding grants of up to $100,000 to groups working on COVID-19 response and is creating an emergency loan fund with two-year, no-interest loans up to $1 million for grant recipients. The money is earmarked for groups working with groups “disproportionately impacted” by the disease. The first round of funding will be given in May. Episcopalhealth.org
Harris County Commissioners:
The county agency has approved $15 million in coronavirus relief for low-income families, undocumented residents, victims of domestic violence and children aging out of foster care. It will be managed through the Greater Houston Community Foundation and United Way.
United Way of Greater Houston:
Dial 211 for the 24/7 United Way helpline that will connect people in need with food, child care, transportation and other resources.
FEDERAL TAXES 2020 Income Tax:
The Internal Revenue Service has delayed the 2020 tax filing deadline to July 15. For information or help, contact the IRS’s Taxpayer Advocate Service at taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov or call 877-7774778.
