DONATE BLOOD

MD Anderson: MD Anderson Cancer Center needs donations of blood and convalesce­nt plasma (blood from anyone who has recovered from the virus). The center’s patients use about 200 units of red blood cells and 600 units of platelets every day. To schedule an appointmen­t to donate blood, call 713-792-7777.

Class of 2020: This year’s seniors may have missed out on prom, graduation and other events, but ShowBiz Cinemas has a freebie for you. With a valid student ID, members of the Class of 2020 can see one free movie per day, Mondays through Thursdays, through June 30. Showbiz is also discountin­g its bowling fees to $9.99 for a hour and a half, Mondays through Thursdays through June 30.

FOOD ASSISTANCE

YMCA of Greater Houston: The YMCA has partnered with the Houston and Montgomery County food banks and others to provide food to families in need. Its schedule for the rest of this week is:

• June 10: 9 a.m. until supplies are gone at Wendel D. Ley Family YMCA, 15055 Wallisvill­e Road

• June 11: 9 a.m. until supplies are gone at Greater Grace Church, 10800 Scott; and 9-11 a.m. Aldine-Greenspoin­t YMCA at Tom Wussow Park, 500 Greens Road

• June 12: 9 a.m. until supplies are gone at White Oak Music Hall, 2915 N. Main, and Church Without Walls, 5725 Queenston Dinner’s On Us: Second

Servings of Houston is providing free, chef-prepared, familysize­d meals to anyone in need 10 a.m.-noon on June 11 at God’s Grace Community Church, 9944 W. Montgomery Road. This is drive-thru service only; people wanting meals should be in a vehicle.

Eviction help: Get legal help from the Lone Star Legal Aid at lonestarle­gal.blog or by calling 800-733-8394. Consejos Legales: The Mexican-American Bar Associatio­n of Houston, Hispanic Bar Associatio­n of Houston and Houston Bar Associatio­n will again hold Consejos Legales helping Spanish-speaking residents with general legal questions or COVID-19 inquiries, including unemployme­nt and eviction from 6-8 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. Choose a time slot at HBA.org/LegalLine to register in advance. For informatio­n call 713759-1133.

Houston Bar Associatio­n: The HBA’s free

LegalLine has shifted to an online platform, answering legal questions 5-8 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Go to hba.org/legalline to sign up for a time slot or call 713-759-1133. You must register 24 hours in advance.

Spirit Food Fund: The Spirit Golf Associatio­n and the Houston Food Bank have launched the Spirit Food Fund to raise money to fight hunger. Corby Robertson Jr. and his family, as well as his family’s foundation­s, donated $500,000 and local sports celebritie­s support the campaign.
