NRG to supply solar to Bank of America

Bank of America, the North Carolina bank with branches in Texas, announced it is buying solar power from NRG Energy in a 10-year deal.

NRG, based in Houston and New Jersey, has contracted more than 1,600 megawatts of solar projects that will be developed in Texas, according to company spokeswoma­n Candice Adams. A megawatt powers about 200 Texas homes on a hot summer day.

Bank of America is expected to receive 160,000 megawatt hours of power from the new solar farm, enough to provide power to its 345 locations in Texas, Adams said.

Natural gas assets agreement finalized

Black Bear Transmissi­on LLC announced that an affiliate entered into a definitive agreement to acquire natural gas transmissi­on assets from a subsidiary of Third Coast Midstream.

Black Bear is a portfolio company of the second Basalt fund, and the transmissi­on assets are an extension to the Southeast United States natural gas transmissi­on business Basalt acquired from Third Coast Midstream in 2019.

The acquisitio­n includes six intrastate natural gas pipelines spanning approximat­ely 1,400 miles in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississipp­i.

BBVA proceeds with expansion

Houston-based BBVA USA has received approval to open 15 new branches across Texas, the bank’s largest market in its U.S. footprint.

The branches, set to open in early 2021, are part of the bank’s fiveyear strategic plan launched in early 2020. More than 30 percent of the planned branches are located in low- to moderate-income communitie­s.

Wet Sounds adding Rosenberg facility

Wet Sounds, a maker of high-performanc­e marine and powersport­s audio systems, will bring up to 50 jobs to Rosenberg

with its relocation to a new facility to Fort Bend County. Its new 118,386-square-foot facility is expected to break ground in August and be completed in spring 2021.

Houston-based KDW will handle design and constructi­on of the facility, which will contain warehouse, fabricatio­n and office space, on a 27-acre at 2975 Louise St. Wet Sounds will own the facility. The site has been master planned to accommodat­e a total of 280,000 square feet of future developmen­t.

Wet Sounds makes high-end marine and powersport­s amps, soundbars and subwoofers, and a line of audio-powered coolers and accessorie­s. The company has 45 employees in Houston.
