Fifteen upcoming projects to watch.

Back in the old days of just three networks, summer was a sleepy time devoted mostly to reruns. Those days are long gone. This season, we’ve already seen such acclaimed new shows as “Perry Mason” and “I May Destroy You,” the debut of the documentary series “Outcry,” the filmed version of “Hamilton” and the return of “Yellowstone” and “The Chi.” Here are 14 more reasons to stay inside.

The Alienist: Angel of Darkness —It will be intriguing to see how the second season of this atmospheric period thriller, based on Caleb Carr’s bestseller, takes the original characters — played by Dakota Fanning, Daniel Brühl and Luke Evans — in new directions. Debuts 8 p.m. July 19 on TNT.

Black Is King — If you thought Disney+ snagging “Hamilton” was a big deal, the streaming service ups the ante with Beyoncé’s latest visual album that’s her take on “The Lion King.” Debuts July 31 on Disney+.

Brave New World — The new NBC streaming site Peacock is making a big splash this summer, and this series, another take on the dystopian Aldous Huxley classic, is one reason why. Alden Ehrenreich (“Solo: A Star Wars Story”) and Demi Moore star. Debuts July 15 on Peacock.

Cursed — This retelling of the Arthurian legend, based on the popular graphic novel co-written by Frank Miller (“Sin City,” “300”) and starring Katherine Langford (“13 Reasons Why,” “Knives Out”), is aimed at the “Game of Thrones” audience. Debuts July 17 on Netflix.

Greatness Code — Each episode of this documentary series looks at a pivotal moment in a famous athlete’s career. Debuts July 10 on Apple TV+.

In My Skin — This darkly comic fivepart British miniseries about an insecure teenage girl has won wide praise in the U.K. Could this be the next “Fleabag”? Debuts July 30 on Hulu.

Indian Matchmaking — In the tradition of such hits as “Love Is Blind” and “Too Hot to Handle” is this docuseries about an Indian matchmaker and her clients dealing with the intricacies of arranged relationships and marriages. Debuts July 16 on Netflix.

Love Fraud — This four-part miniseries about a particularly destructive case of online catfishing generated a lot of buzz after its Sundance premiere. Debuts 8 p.m. Aug. 30 on Showtime.

Love in the Time of Corona — Another four-part series, though this one is fictional but set in our current reality, telling stories about life and love while in quarantine. Debuts in August on Freeform. Date TBA.

Lovecraft Country — The anticipation is high for this horror-thriller from producers Jordan Peele (“Get Out”) and J.J.

Abrams (“Lost”). Set in the Jim Crow South, it stars Jonathan Majors (“Da 5 Bloods,” “The Last Black Man in San Francisco”) as a Black man in search of his father who, along the way, discovers horrors of both the supernatural and the real world. With its blend of the fantastical and American racial history, there are echoes of “Watchmen.” Debuts Aug. 16 on HBO.

Muppets Now — The Muppets return for a new generation with a rebooted series. Debuts July 31 on Disney+.

P-Valley — Playwright Katori Hall (“Tina: The Tina Turner Musical”) created this drama set in the world of Southern strippers. Debuts 7 p.m. July 12 on Starz.

Stateless — Cate Blanchett stars in and is one of the creators of this Australian-set series about the intersection of lives at an immigration detention center. Yvonne Strahovski (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Jai Courtney (“Terminator Genisys”), Dominic West (“The Affair”) and Marta Dusseldorp (“A Place to Call Home”) star. Debuts July 8 on Netflix.

Ted Lasso — In this series, Jason Sudeikis is a Kansas college football coach hired to train a British soccer team. Fish-out-ofwater hilarity theoretically ensues. Debuts Aug. 14 on Apple TV+.

We Hunt Together — A pair of detectives tracking two killers may not sound like the most original plot in the world for a series, but this British psychological thriller, penned by Gaby Hull (“Cheat”), could be what you need for your “Killing Eve” fix. Debuts at 9 p.m. Aug. 9 on Showtime
