Seager, Mariners hammer Rangers

ARLINGTON — Kyle Seager hit a grand slam, Kyle Lewis and Dylan Moore also homered, and the Seattle Mariners won 10-2 on Monday night in their first game at the new Texas ballpark, snapping the Rangers’ three-game winning streak.

Lewis put the Mariners up 4-2 with his fourth homer, a three-run shot to center field in the fifth off Kyle Gibson (0-2). Seager cleared the bases an inning later with a high-arching drive that dropped near the first row of seats a few feet beyond the right-field wall for his fifth career slam.

Justin Dunn (1-1) limited Texas to two runs over six innings for his first big league victory. He had gone only seven innings combined his first two starts this season after pitching in four games at the end of last season in his MLB debut.

Willie Calhoun drove in both runs for Texas, which was coming off a three-game weekend sweep at home over the Los Angeles Angels.

NATIONALS 16, METS 4: Asdrubal Cabrera went 4-for-4 with two homers, two doubles and five RBIs, tormenting his former team again as Washington routed host New York. Cabrera is batting .452 (14-for-31) with three homers and 11 RBIs in eight games against the Mets since Washington signed him on Aug. 6, 2019.

ANGELS 10, ATHLETICS 9: Mike Trout’s eighthinni­ng solo homer — his second blast of the game — broke a tie, and Los Angeles held on from there to halt visiting Oakland’s nine-game winning streak.

PHILLIES 13, BRAVES 8: Didi Gregorius hit a grand slam, Bryce Harper blasted a three-run shot, and host Philadelph­ia beat Atlanta, giving Aaron Nola his first win in nearly a year.

TWINS 4, BREWERS 2: Eddie Rosario hit a grand slam, Randy Dobnak pitched five strong innings, and Minnesota won at Milwaukee.

TIGERS 5, WHITE SOX 1: JaCoby Jones hit an insidethe-park home run in the seventh, and Detroit breezed past visiting Chicago for its fourth consecutiv­e victory.

RAYS 8, RED SOX 7: Kevin Kiermaier hit a tiebreakin­g, two-run double in the seventh, Manuel Margot had four hits, and visiting Tampa Bay beat Boston.

DIAMONDBAC­KS 12, ROCKIES 8: Kole Calhoun homered and had a two-run double to lead Arizona’s 18-hit night, and the Diamondbac­ks won at Colorado.

PADRES 2, DODGERS 1: Eric Hosmer singled in the go-ahead run with two outs in the sixth inning, and San Diego won at Los Angeles.
