Treemont spotlights its new activity director Rose Lau

-

Social interaction, activities, companionship, new friends, and safety are key parts of community engagement.

Seniors choose to join the Treemont Retirement Community family for those very reasons, and Treemont is excited to welcome activity director Rose Marie Lau to its management team.

“I know the importance of stimulating and engaging residents to partake in activities such as exercise, outings, socials, and more which are beneficial to the well-being of our residents. I like to be the ‘helping hand,’” Lau said.

Treemont management believes that a top-quality activity program is essential to attracting new residents and keeping current ones happy and engaged.

They believe that social interaction is a key component of a long, healthy life. At a retirement community, you have new friends all around. You have people to share meals with and a full calendar of activities to help you stay active and involved. Studies have shown that seniors who socialize and stay active among their peers are happier and maintain a better quality of life.

Lau is a 2018 graduate at The University of Southern Mississippi, holding a BFA in drawing and painting and a minor in art history.

She also studied watercolors in Rome, Italy. Her previous role was as an educational events assistant at the Children’s Museum of Houston, providing arts and event programing for families across the country.

“I have always enjoyed people of all ages and creating fun and meaningful programming provides me purpose and fulfillment,” Lau said.

Originally from Meridian, Mississippi and an adoptee from China, she has embraced a wide range of cultures. Lau has family living in Hawaii, Washington, Mississippi, and Florida.

Lau will continue to reach out to all Treemont residents and learn the interests of everyone.

“We are delighted to welcome Rose to our leadership team,” said executive director Rodney Brooks. “Rose has already stepped in to provide key support at this time. I know residents are enjoying Rose’s engaging personality and ability to design programs that meet our residents’ diverse interests.”
