Tigers end pair of losing streaks
CLEVELAND — Rookie Isaac Paredes hit a grand slam for his first major league homer and the Detroit Tigers snapped a 20-game losing streak against Cleveland by beating the Indians 10-5 on Friday night.
The Tigers also ended a nine-game slide. Jonathan Schoop hit a two-run homer in the fourth as the Tigers topped the Indians for the first time since April 10, 2019.
Cleveland’s 20-game dominance of Detroit was the second-longest streak against one opponent since division play began in 1969. Baltimore holds the record with 23 consecutive wins over Kansas City in 1969-70.
BLUE JAYS 6, RAYS 5 (10): Cavan Biggio and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. each drove in a run during the 10th inning to help Toronto win its sixth consecutive game.
RED SOX 8, ORIOLES 5: Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez and Rafael Devers homered as visiting Boston recorded its third straight win. Boston traded relievers Brandon Workman, Heath Hembree and cash to Philadelphia for pitchers Nick Pivetta and Connor Seabold.
MARINERS 7, RANGERS 4: Kyle Lewis homered and scored three runs in host Seattle’s win.
WHITE SOX 10, CUBS 1: Jose Abreu drove in four runs with a pair of home runs and Dallas Keuchel held the Cubs to a run in eight innings as the White Sox won at Wrigley Field.
ATHLETICS 5, ANGELS 3: Stephen Piscotty drove in three runs and Mike Fiers picked up his third win for host Oakland.
DODGERS 5, ROCKIES 1: Walker Buehler struck out 11 over six innings as Los Angeles won at home.
REDS 4, CARDINALS 2: Matt Davidson’s pinch-hit grand slam in the sixth inning lifted the visiting Reds.
BRAVES 11, PHILLIES 2: Marcell Ozuna drove in four runs with three hits, including two home runs in Atlanta’s win at home.
MARLINS 3, NATIONALS 2: Miguel Rojas hit a three-run homer and Miami snapped a five-game skid with a win at Washington.
GIANTS 6, DIAMONDBACKS 2: Logan Webb pitched seven strong innings and Evan Longoria hit his 300th career home run for host San Francisco.
ROYALS 7, TWINS 2: Hunter Dozier and Jorge Soler drove in three runs apiece for host Kansas City.
PIRATES 7, BREWERS 2: Chad Kuhl allowed one run in five innings to pick up his first win in more than two years.
