Phillies extend winning streak
NEW YORK — Jake Arrieta bounced back from the shortest start of his career by pitching seven solid innings to lead the Philadelphia Phillies over the New York Mets 5-3 Friday night for their fifth straight win and tenth in 11 games.
Roman Quinn snapped a tie with a two-out, RBI single in the seventh.

NATIONALS SPLIT TO SNAP SKID: Trea Turner’s home run helped the Nationals beat Atlanta 10-9 and split a doubleheader. Ronald Acuna Jr. homered twice as the Braves took the opener 7-1.
RAYS 5, MARLINS 4: Rookie lefthander Josh Fleming won his third consecutive start and AL East-leading Tampa Bay won at home. Yoshi Tsutsugo homered for the Rays, who have won 20 of 25.
DODGERS 10, ROCKIES 6: Mookie Betts’ two-run homer highlighted a five-run eighth as Los Angeles won at home.
CUBS 4, CARDINALS 1: Yu Darvish allowed a run on one hit with 11 strikeouts in seven innings, and Willson Contreras homered and drove in four runs as Chicago won at home.
MARINERS 6, RANGERS 3: Yusei Kikuchi struck out seven, J.P. Crawford hit a three-run home run as host Seattle beat Texas.
RED SOX SALVAGE A SPLIT: Yairo Munoz had three hits, and Boston salvaged a split of a doubleheader at Fenway Park with a 3-2 victory over the Toronto to halt a five-game losing streak. Danny Jansen hit a two-run homer, and the Blue Jays held on to win the opener 8-7.
TWINS TAKE TWO FROM TIGERS: Marwin Gonzalez drove in the go-ahead run and host Minnesota beat Detroit 3-2 and sweep a doubleheader. Jorge Polanco and Josh Donaldson hit back-to-back homers as the Twins won the opener 2-0.
BREWERS 7, INDIANS 1: Corbin Burnes pitched six strong innings, Keston Hiura hit an RBI double in Milwaukee’s four-run seventh inning and the Brewers won at Cleveland.
WHITE SOX 7, ROYALS 3: Jose Abreu extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a two-run double, Eloy Jimenez had three hits and Chicago won on the road.
YANKEES, ORIOLES SPLIT: Baltimore ended its 19-game losing streak against New York, using a strong offensive performance by rookie Ryan Mountcastle to earn a 6-3 victory. The Yankees took the opener 6-5.
REDS, PIRATES SPLIT: Luis Castillo pitched six strong innings and Cincinnati won at Pittsburgh in the first game of a doubleheader. Anthony Alford hit a tworun triple off Trevor Bauer as the Pirates took the nightcap 4-3.
DIAMONDBACKS 6, GIANTS 5: Ketel Marte had four hits, including a home run, to lead the visiting Diamondbacks.
