Sunday’s game at NRG at 20 percent capacity

-

The Texans plan to host a maximum of 13,300 fans — a 20 percent capacity — at NRG Stadium for their game Sunday against Minnesota after gaining approval from city and Harris County officials.

Social distancing protocols, mandatory mask wearing and hygiene standards will be in effect.

The Texans have installed more than 475 sanitizing stations, tied down several seats so they can’t be used to help enforce social distancing, and have gone to touchless and cashless transactions, mobile tickets and staggered entry.

The Texans submitted an Infectious Disease Emergency Response plan that was audited and approved by the NFL and submitted to city and county officials for approval. The Texans collaborated with the stadium landlord, the Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation, ASM Global, CSC and Aramark to implement protocols required by the NFL and the Centers for Disease Control.

Because of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the Texans didn’t have fans at their home opener against the Baltimore Ravens.

Season-ticket holders who didn’t defer for the 2020 season have been given the option to purchase tickets for the remaining seven home games. Any tickets remaining for the seven home dates will go on sale at noon Tuesday through Ticketmaster.com. There will be no tickets sold through the NRG Stadium box office.

All fans ages 10 and older and staff will be required to wear masks except when actively eating or drinking. Everyone in attendance will be required to maintain physical distancing of at least 6 feet apart beginning in the parking lot, at the entry gates and throughout NRG Stadium. Tailgating isn’t allowed at this time.

“We have been working tirelessly to make changes and implement protocols at NRG Stadium to ensure a safe environment,” Texans team president Jamey Rootes said in a statement.
