Jackson secures 200th career win

Grand Oaks head coach Mike Jackson won his 200th career game with the Grizzlies’ 69-10 win over Fort Bend Austin on Thursday.

Jackson won state titles at his first two coaching stops — Shiner and St. Pius X. He coached at Robstown and Charlotte before taking a two-year hiatus from coaching after his father became sick. Stays at Chavez and La Marque preceded the opening of Grand Oaks (4-0) in 2018.

“I’m proud for the kids, that it’s this team that did it,” Jackson said. “It obviously brings up a lot of memories from teams past, kids you’ve coached, great coaches you’ve worked with. I’ve never worked a day in my life. I’ve been a head coach 28 years and God willing, we’ll just keep going. The important thing now is to get 201.”
