HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Notable: In a 56-49 overtime victory over rival Cypress Falls, the junior completed 24 of 37 passes for 384 yards and two touchdowns and had 21 carries for 209 yards and three more touchdowns. Langham Creek keeps pace in the District 16-6A playoff race.
What coach Todd Thompson said: “He was pretty confident. He really helped us when he ran the ball. It got to a point they were dropping a lot of guys in coverage and we ran a quarterback draw. He really keeps them honest when he does that. We ran speed option with him and they took the pitch man, so he was able to
run. … Thought he managed the game well and got the ball to the guys he was supposed to. When you do that in our offense, you can put up big numbers.”
