Wichita State coach resigns

Wichita State men’s basketball coach Gregg Marshall resigned Tuesday following an investigat­ion into allegation­s of verbal and physical abuse, ending a tenure that soared to the 2013 Final Four and crashed on the eve of the upcoming season.

The school said Marshall agreed to a settlement of $7.75 million to be paid over the next six years.

Shockers assistant coach Isaac Brown, who has been with the programsin­ce 2014, will be interimcoa­ch. In other news:

• Texas A&M men’s basketball team has bowed out of the Bad Boy Mowers

Crossover Classic in Sioux Falls, S.D., citing COVID-19 travel concerns.

The Aggies will now start their season in College Station against New Orleans on Nov. 29. A&M was scheduled to open in South Dakota againstWes­t Virginia on Nov. 25.

• The Atlantic Coast Conference says Saturday’s football game between Duke andWake Forest won’t be played due to coronaviru­s issues and injuries within the Demon Deacons’ program.

The ACC’s statement made no mention of rescheduli­ng, thoughWake Forest said it would work with Duke and the ACC on that possibilit­y.

• Mississipp­i men’s coach Kermit Davis has tested positive for COVID-19 and could be sidelined when the season starts.

Ole Miss announced the positive test Tuesday, saying if a follow-up test is also positive, Davis will isolate at home and miss the Rebels’ first two games. Ronnie Hamilton would serve as interimhea­d coach for the home contests Nov. 25 and Nov. 26.
