Wichita State coach resigns
Wichita State men’s basketball coach Gregg Marshall resigned Tuesday following an investigation into allegations of verbal and physical abuse, ending a tenure that soared to the 2013 Final Four and crashed on the eve of the upcoming season.
The school said Marshall agreed to a settlement of $7.75 million to be paid over the next six years.
Shockers assistant coach Isaac Brown, who has been with the programsince 2014, will be interimcoach. In other news:
• Texas A&M men’s basketball team has bowed out of the Bad Boy Mowers
Crossover Classic in Sioux Falls, S.D., citing COVID-19 travel concerns.
The Aggies will now start their season in College Station against New Orleans on Nov. 29. A&M was scheduled to open in South Dakota againstWest Virginia on Nov. 25.
• The Atlantic Coast Conference says Saturday’s football game between Duke andWake Forest won’t be played due to coronavirus issues and injuries within the Demon Deacons’ program.
The ACC’s statement made no mention of rescheduling, thoughWake Forest said it would work with Duke and the ACC on that possibility.
• Mississippi men’s coach Kermit Davis has tested positive for COVID-19 and could be sidelined when the season starts.
Ole Miss announced the positive test Tuesday, saying if a follow-up test is also positive, Davis will isolate at home and miss the Rebels’ first two games. Ronnie Hamilton would serve as interimhead coach for the home contests Nov. 25 and Nov. 26.
