Tutor sentenced to 20 years in sex assault case

A private tutor employed in the Houston area has received a 20year prison sentence for instructing two children to engage in a sex act as she watched and for sexually assaulting one of them.

Both crimes occurred while she was out on bail in Harris County for allegedly trying to lure her underage pupil into sex.

On Nov. 17, Leticia Giljum Lowery, 40, of Pinehurst, pleaded guilty to sexual performance by a child, a first-degree felony, and sexual assault of a child, a seconddegree felony, in the 435th District Court.

District Judge Patty Maginnis sentenced Lowery to 20 years, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
