Heights retail building undergoes renovations
Brookfield Properties announced lease renewals at its Shops at Houston Center, at 1200 McKinney St. in downtown Houston. Kelsey-Seybold Clinic renewed its 22,896 square foot clinic and pharmacy lease. Berkeley Eye Center, represented by Adam McAlpine of McAlpine Interests, renewed 2,614 square feet. Andrea Lukens of Brookfield Properties represented the landlord. The Shops at Houston Center has more than 196,000 square feet of shopping, dining and service options.
Social Pub & Grill leased 3,599 square feet in Cross Creek Commons, a development of NewQuest Properties at FM 1463 and South Fry Road in Fulshear for a second location. NewQuest’s Andrew Alvis NewQuest and J.J. McDermott represented the landlord. Opening is planned in late spring or early summer. The 90-percent leased Cross Creek Commons will total 52,791 square feet up completion and is anchored by Aldi's. Social Pub & Grill has a location in NewQuest’s Shops at Katy Reserve.
Wolf Capital Partners purchased a 10,625-square-foot building at 742 E. 20th in the Heights with plans to redevelop it for retail tenants. The building, which was home to Akin's Pharmacy from the 1940s to the 1980s, was purchased from Geraldine Akin. Studewood Barber Shop, a tenant for 20 years, recently extended its lease, according to founder Zach Wolf. The company also plans to redevelop a restaurant building with drive-thru at 5013 N. Shepherd.
JLL has been selected to provide retail leasing services for CityPlace, a 60-acre, mixed-use urban district in Springwoods Village. The assignment was awarded by Patrinely Group on behalf of its joint venture partners USAA Real Estate and CDC Houston. Rip Reynolds will lead leasing efforts for four locations with a total of 65,000 square feet of available retail space. Located at Interstate 45, the Grand Parkway and the Hardy Toll Road in Spring, CityPlace encompasses office space, shopping, restaurants, entertainment, multifamily and hospitality developments.
Chipotle Mexican Grill opened a restaurant at 760 Sawdust Road in Spring. The location has a “Chipotlane” drivethru pick up lane that allows customers to pick up digital orders from the car. Another Spring location is set to open soon at 1400 Lake Plaza Drive in Springwoods Village.
Garden Thai Cuisine leased 3,804 square feet of restaurant and patio space at the Washington Building, 2228 Mechanic St, Galveston, from Mitchell Historic Properties. Kimberly DeVos of Cypressbrook Co. represented the tenant.
Tacarbon leased space in Lakes of Riata retail center at 10750 Barker Cypress Road in Cypress. Jack Gaffney and Chase Tucker represented the landlord, an affiliate of Finial Group.
Cantina Laredo, a restaurant serving modern Mexican cuisine in the Market of Westchase at 11129 Westheimer, has reopened, according to the Westchase District. The restaurant closed in April due to COVID-19.
Akashi Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar leased 5,250 square feet in the Grand at Aliana, at West Grand Parkway and West Airport Boulevard, Richmond, from NewQuest Properties. Josh Friedlander and David Meyers of NewQuest Properties represented the landlord. Greg Slusky of Sluco Realty Services represented the tenant.
Rococo Salon Suites leased 1,918 square feet at Eagle Springs Shopping Center, 5444 Atascocita Road, Humble. Jim Thompson and Benny Nguyen of Resolut RE represented the landlord.
