So far: Rockets 11-11; Hornets 11-13. Lately: The Rockets had won seven of their past eight before returning home for one game and losing Saturday against the Spurs. With Sunday’s blowout of the Wizards, the Hornets have won four of six.

SCOUTING THE ROCKETS

After allowing 111 points against the Spurs on Saturday, the Rockets are 2-8 when allowing more than 100 points. … Opponents have made 32.6 percent of their 3-pointers in the past 13 games after shooting 38.1 percent in the first nine games of the season. … The Rockets are 10-2 when having 13 or more 3-pointers and 1-9 when having fewer after making 12 3-pointers on 31.6 percent shooting Saturday. … Eric Gordon had 26 points Saturday, his fourth consecutiv­e game with at least 20 points and 12th this season. He has scored at least 20 points in four of his past six games. … DeMarcus Cousins has averaged 14.6 points and 13.6 rebounds as a starter after averaging 6.8 points and 5.1 rebounds as a reserve. … After averaging 22 points in his first six games with the Rockets, guard Victor Oladipo has averaged 14.3 points on 33.3 percent shooting in his past three games.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS

The Hornets have used a different starting lineup in each of their past four games. LaMelo Ball became a starter when P.J. Washington was hurt and remaining there when Washington returned with Devonte Graham out. … The Hornets lead the NBA in assists and rank second in scoring off turnovers and seventh in fast-break points per game. … The Hornets lost each of their first four home games against Western Conference teams. … Charlotte is 3-3 in the second half of back-to-backs. … The Hornets had 68 rebounds against the Wizards on Sunday, tying a franchise record set against the Rockets in 1991 and the most in the NBA this season. … Rookie LaMelo Ball went 3 of 6 on 3-pointers Sunday and has made 14 of 28 in his past five games, averaging 23.2 points and 6.4 assists per game in that stretch. He leads all rookies in scoring, assists and steals and ranks second in rebounds per game. … Guard Terry Rozier is averaging 18.4 points per game, making 46.4 percent of his shots and 42.6 percent of his 3s, all career bests. … Gordon Hayward, coming off consecutiv­e 25-point games, leads the Hornets in scoring, averaging a career-best 23.1 points per game.
