Livers, Hunter spark No. 3 Michigan’s win

MADISON, Wis. — Isaiah Livers scored 20 points, and Hunter Dickinson had a double-double as No. 3 Michigan returned from a three-week layoff and rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat No. 21 Wisconsin 67-59 on Sunday.

Michigan (14-1, 9-1 Big Ten) scored the game’s final eight points and pulled ahead for good with 1:46 left on a tie-breaking putback from Dickinson, who had 11 points and 15 rebounds. Wisconsin (15-7, 9-6) missed its last seven shots.

The Wolverines hadn’t played since a 70-53 victory at Purdue on Jan. 22. Michigan announced the next day that it was pausing all athletic activities after several people linked to the athletic department tested positive for a COVID-19 variant that transmits at a higher rate.

Tremell Murphy scored 17 points, including the go-ahead basket in overtime, as the Bulldogs rallied to win despite a poor shooting performanc­e at home.

Murphy’s layup with 2:50 remaining put Drake ahead for good, 49-48, in the defensive struggle between Missouri Valley Conference powers. Loyola had two shots blocked in the final 15 seconds before Murphy made the clinching steal and was fouled.

Drake (20-2, 11-2 MVC) won despite shooting 33.3 percent. Loyola (18-4, 13-2) shot 35.1 percent.

TEXAS TECH, TCU JUGGLE SCHEDULE DUE TO STORM

Extreme winter weather has led No. 7 Texas Tech and TCU to alter their

schedule, and flip-flop the home matchups for their back-to-back games this week.

The teams were scheduled to play Monday night in Fort Worth, and then Wednesday night in Lubbock.

Texas Tech didn’t travel to Fort Worth as planned because of the storm.

Now the teams will try to play Tuesday night in Lubbock, and then in Fort Worth on Thursday night.

Destanni Henderson scored 19 points, and Aliyah Boston added 12 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks as the No. 1 Gamecocks beat the visiting Tigers for their 31st straight Southeaste­rn Conference victory.

South Carolina (17-2, 12-0 SEC) hasn’t lost in league play since falling to Arkansas in the SEC Tournament

Sam Thomas scored 20 points, including hitting a career-high six 3-pointers to help the Wildcats run their winning streak to six games with a Pac-12 victory over the visiting Huskies.

Cate Reese had 12 points, Shaina Pellington had 11 points, and Thomas added a season-high seven rebounds for the Wildcats (14-2, 12-2).

Ashley Owusu scored 25 points, and the visiting Terrapins made Brenda Frese the all-time winningest coach in program history.

Frese, 500-130 in her 19th season with the Terrapins, passed Hall of Fame coach Chris Weller, who won 499 games from 19752002.
