Frances “Fran” Cunningham, 97, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away on February 21, 2021.

Fran was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on January 5, 1924, the seventh of nine children born to Sadie Loughlin and John Maher. Frances attended Plainfield High School in Planfield, New Jersey, and secretaria­l school thereafter. She began a secretaria­l career after graduation.

She was married to Joseph David Cunningham in 1949. They were happily married for 59 years, until his passing in December 2008. Fran and Joe raised four children, Kenneth, Jane, David, and Eileen.

Fran resumed her secretaria­l career in 1972, working for the Houston Independen­t School District until her retirement in 1988.

She was very active in church life and was a member of Catholic Daughters for more than 35 years, and in recent years was a member of the St Anthony of Padua congregati­on in The Woodlands.

Fran and Joe loved square dancing and round dancing and were members of the Pasadena Squares for many years. After Fran and Joe moved to Country Place in Pearland in 1988, Fran and Joe organized the Country Place Squares club. Fran was also a member of the ladies golfing club, and organized a ladies investment club at Country Place.

In 2013, Fran moved to the Conservato­ry at Alden Bridge.

She is survived by her daughter Eileen and son Kenneth, four grandchild­ren, Chris Henney, Heather White, Ken Dilks, and Lindsey Dilks, eight grandchild­ren, and many nieces and nephews and their children and greatgrand­children. Fran lived an incredibly active and full life, with her greatest joy being her family and the numerous friends and lives that she touched throughout her journey.

A private visitation will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 1pm on Friday, at St. Anthony of Padua, 7801 Bay Branch Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77385.
