No. 7 Baylor women get 10th straight win

WACO — NaLyssa Smith scored 20 points, DiJonai Carrington had a doubledoub­le, and No. 7 Baylor won its 10th game in a row, 70-51 over Oklahoma State on Wednesday night to move the Lady Bears closer to their 11th Big 12 regular-season title in a row.

The Lady Bears (18-2, 13-1 Big 12) took control by scoring the last 17 points before halftime. But that came after a miserable stretch of nearly 9½ minutes when they blew all of an early 14-point lead with nine turnovers while missing 11 of 12 shots.

Carrington had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Baylor, which can clinch at least a share of the Big 12 title with a home win Saturday over Kansas State. Queen Egbo had 13 points and Moon Ursin 11.

While the Lady Bears still have four games to play, Oklahoma State (17-7, 13-5) was the first Big 12 team to complete its regular season.

TEXAS 61, KANSAS 52

Charli Collier scored 23 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and tied her career high with two steals to lead the Longhorns past the host Jayhawks to complete a sweep of the teams’ regular-season series.

Collier shot 8-of-16 for Texas (16-6, 10-5 Big 12), which has now won at least 10 Big 12 games in each of the last six seasons. The Longhorns’ Audrey Warren added 12 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals to record her first collegiate double-double.

HOUSTON 77 WICHITA STATE 65

Miya Crump scored 16 points, Laila Blair and Britney Onye added 15 and 13 points, respective­ly, and the Cougars used a balanced scoring effort to defeat the Shockers in Wichita, Kan., for their sixth consecutiv­e victory.

Dymond Gladney had 12 points, and Tatyana Hill added 11 to round out the double-digit scorers for Houston (14-5, 11-4 American Athletic Conference).

Men NO. 20 ARKANSAS 81 NO. 6 ALABAMA 66

Jaylin Williams scored 10 of his season-high 13 points during a decisive run, and the host Razorbacks beat the Crimson Tide. It was Arkansas’ first victory at home over a ranked team in three years.

Williams keyed the 17-2 run that turned a six-point deficit into a nine-point lead with less than 10 minutes to play. He was one of five players to finish in double figures for Arkansas (18-5, 10-4 SEC).

Alabama (18-6, 13-2) managed only the two points during that stretch, a John Petty Jr. jumper, for a span of 8:53.

NORTH CAROLINA STATE 68 NO. 15 VIRGINIA 61

DJ Funderburk scored nine of his 14 points in the second half, and the Wolfpack (11-9, 7-8 Atlantic Coast Conference) opened a big lead and held off the Cavaliers (15-6, 11-4) for their fourth consecutiv­e ACC road victory.

Sardaar Calhoun had a career-high 16 points, and the Seminoles (14-3, 10-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) coasted to a win over the host Hurricanes (7-14, 3-13).

NO. 13 CREIGHTON 77 DEPAUL 53

Marcus Zegarowski, Christian Bishop and Denzel Mahoney scored 13 points apiece, and the host Bluejays (17-5, 13-4 Big East) made fast work of the Blue Demons (4-11, 2-11).

NO. 25 TENNESSEE 70 VANDERBILT 58

Victor Bailey Jr. made five 3-pointers and scored 21 points as the Volunteers (16-6, 9-6 Southeaste­rn Conference) beat the host Commodores (6-13, 2-11) to sweep the season series.

NICHOLLS STATE 83 HOUSTON BAPTIST 68

Jaylen Fornes made seven 3-pointers and scored a season-high 23 points as the Colonels (14-6, 11-2 Southland) beat the visiting Huskies.

Pedro Castro scored 12 points to lead Houston Baptist (4-15, 3-8).

STEPHEN F. AUSTIN 83 NORTHWESTE­RN STATE 57

Gavin Kensmil had 21 points and nine rebounds as the Lumberjack­s routed the visiting Demons. David Kachelries scored 16 points for Stephen F. Austin (14-3, 11-1 Southland), which won its fifth straight.

LAMAR 67 INCARNATE WORD 45

Kasen Harrison had 18 points as Lamar (5-17, 4-10 Southland), easily defeated Incarnate Word in San Antonio. Keaston Willis scored 15 points to lead Incarnate Word (8-10, 5-6).
