Baylor tears up Tech for 10-0 home record

WACO — MaCio Teague scored 35 points while matching a school record with 10 made 3-pointers and No. 3 Baylor finished undefeated at home for the first time in 73 years with a 88-73 win over No. 18 Texas Tech in a regularsea­son finale Sunday.

The Big 12 champion Bears (21-1, 13-1 Big 12) never trailed but didn’t take control for good until a 16-3 run in the second half when Teague had three 3s. He finished 10of-12 from long range.

Jared Butler scored 18 points, and Davion Mitchell 17 as Baylor finished 10-0 in the Ferrell Center, the first time going undefeated at home since going 9-0 in 1947-48. Mark Vital had 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Kyler Edwards had 18 points for Texas Tech (17-9, 9-8), which was coming off three straight home wins. Kevin McCullar and Terrence Shannon Jr. had 11.

After being down 16-3 only six and a half minutes into the game, the Red Raiders tied the game at 25-25 after consecutiv­e 3-pointers. The game also was tied at 32 before Butler made a full spin on his drive through traffic for a layup in the closing seconds.

MICHIGAN STATE 70 NO. 2 MICHIGAN 64

Rocket Watts scored 21 points, and Aaron Henry had 18 to lead the host Spartans to a victory over the Wolverines that seemed to seal coach Tom Izzo’s 23rd consecutiv­e NCAA Tournament bid.

Michigan senior guard Eli Brooks hurt his left ankle early in the game and did not return.

Hunter Dickinson finished with 12 points while Franz Wagner had 10 points for Michigan. Reserve Chaundee Brown scored 13 points.

Luka Garza scored 21 points and had 16 rebounds as the host Hawkeyes defeated the Badgers.

It was the 12th doubledoub­le of the season for Garza, who leads the Big Ten in scoring and is third in the nation.

Micah Potter scored 23 points for Wisconsin (16-11, 10-10)), which has lost five of six.

Brad Davison had 14 points for the Badgers, and Jonathan Davis had 11.

Jordan Bohannon had 16 points and eight assists. Keegan Murray had 13 points for Iowa (20-7, 14-6).

Joe Wieskamp had scored 12 points for the Hawkeyes when he went down with a lower right leg injury with 8:16 left in the first half. He had to be helped off the court and did not return.

NO. 20 LOYOLA CHI. 75 DRAKE 65

Cameron Krutwig and Braden Norris scored 20 points apiece to lead the Ramblers to a 75-65 win over the Bulldogs in the Missouri Valley Conference championsh­ip game in St. Louis for a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

The Ramblers (24-4, 16-2) will be making their seventh tournament appearance and first since the 2018 team reached the Final Four as a No. 11 seed.

Tremell Murphy and D.J. Wilkins scored 20 points each for Drake (25-4, 15-3), a bubble team. D.J. Wilkins added 14 points. Krutwig, the MVC Player of the Year,

had eight rebounds.

LIBERTY 79 NORTH ALABAMA 75

Darius McGhee scored 21 points and eight rebounds and the top-seeded Flames held on for a win over the Lions on Sunday in the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament championsh­ip game in Jacksonvil­le, Fla.

Liberty (23-5), which has won 12 consecutiv­e games, has won each of the last three ASUN regular season and tournament titles — the first program to in conference history to do so.

Kyle Rode finished with 15 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Flames.

Mervin James finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. C.J. Brim added 15 points, and Payton Youngblood had 14 points and four steals.

WINTHROP 80 CAMPBELL 53

D.J. Burns scored 22 points and Winthrop took off in the second half to a 80-53 victory over Campbell on Sunday for its second straight Big South tournament championsh­ip in Rock Hill, S.C. and earned an automatic NCAA Tournament bid.

They will be making their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance.

Jordan Whitfield scored 18 points and Ricky Clemons 10 for Campbell.
