Aggies receiver arrested on marijuana possession

-

Texas A&M freshman wide receiver Demond Demas has been arrested by College Station police on a charge of possessing less than 2 ounces of marijuana.

Demas, a five-star signee a year ago out of Tomball, was arrested Tuesday and released later in the day after posting $2,000 bond.

Despite his lofty status out of high school, Demas played sparingly as a freshman last season, when the Aggies finished No. 4 nationally.

A&M coach Jimbo Fisher deemed Demas “unavailable” during two lateseason games and declined to elaborate on what that meant.

Demas returned in time for the regular-season finale at Tennessee and the Aggies’ Orange Bowl victory over North Carolina.

The Aggies are scheduled to start spring drills March 29 and their spring game is set for April 24 at Kyle Field.
