Congress visits the border
Finger-pointing continues
Regarding “Parties split on situation at border,” (A1, March 27): How many trips to the border by members of Congress does it take to obtain meaningful action on immigration?
I would like to know the costs of travel, lodging and per diem that members of Congress (both parties) have spent traveling to the border to see the mess that exists there and has existed for years.
Yet, after their travel, news conferences and photo ops, the congressional delegations go back to their homes or Washington, D.C., and nothing gets done on immigration. The Democrats blame the Republicans and the Republicans blame the Democrats and on and on and on! Nothing changes, except the days of these congressional visits.
Enough is enough! Finger-pointing is not getting anything done. The border will continue to be a crisis because the Central and South American countries and Mexico will continue to be ruled by corruption and incompetency. They will not improve anytime in the near future. The migrants will keep coming, and as long as our Congress continues to excel in nothing but finger-pointing, the problems at the border will continue and will probably get worse.
I implore Congress to address our outdated and ineffective immigration laws, not only for the betterment of this nation, but also for the betterment of those who are wanting to come to this nation. It is a responsibility of our Congress and they should not shirk that responsibility.

Thanks for your service
I have gotten both COVID-19 vaccine shots now at NRG. Kudos to the county for running a smooth, seamless operation.
More importantly, I want to give a shout-out to the military personnel out there giving shots and running much of the program. I didn’t say it while I was there, but thank you for your service to your country!

Privacy
Regarding “West U police hope $4.5M license plate readers deter crime,” (March 23): Anyone else see automatic license plate readers as a breach of privacy?
Stop police overreach. The next person who gets pulled over for no reason could be you.

No joke
Scanned the paper for a good April Fools’ Day story or joke but finally gave up as each story I read proved to be beyond make-believe in these crazy times.
Truth can be stranger than fiction I’ve often heard.
