Carol Holub Bratcher, 85, of Houston, Texas passed away on April 10. 2021.

Carol was born to Thomas Holub and Columbia Van Vetterman Holub on October 2, 1935 in Taylor, Texas. She attended Pasadena High School, where she won 1st in State in Declamatio­n; was named Most Likely to Succeed by her classmates; and met her husband. After graduation in 1954, Carol attended University of Houston and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio and Television in 1958. She married Tom Bratcher in 1958, and they lived together in the Oak Forest neighborho­od in Houston, Texas, where they raised 3 boys.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Tom Bratcher, sons Tom Bratcher (Teresa) and John Bratcher (Rory) and grandchild­ren, Christyn, Brandon, Carson and Reese Bratcher. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Betty Duke (James) and Marilyn Goolsby and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Holub Bratcher; grandson, Thomas Bratcher IV; and, her sister, Tommie Hinski.

Carol worked as a supervisor in the Transcript Department at The University of Houston until she had her first son, at which time she devoted her life to caring for her husband and children. She served as the PTA President and supported her children in their baseball, football, swimming and scout activities. Carol loved reading and would save news articles of interest to share with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking for family get togethers and will be remembered for her great potato salad and snicker doodle cookies. She loved cheering on her beloved UH Cougars and could always be counted on for wearing her red Cougar shirt on game days. Most of all, Carol will be remembered for her kind, gentle spirit and her thoughtful­ness. She loved sending greeting cards to her loved ones and would spend hours searching for the perfect card with the perfect words.

A Celebratio­n of Life service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Faith Presbyteri­an Church of Pasadena. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carol’s name to Faith Presbyteri­an Church of Pasadena.
