Space Cowboy
THE CONCEPT
The first concept from the new Night Moves Hospitality (partners Greg Perez, formerly of Monkey’s Tail, and chef Lyle Bento, formerly with Southern Goods and Underbelly Hospitality) is a tropical-inspired bar and restaurant set poolside at the Heights House Hotel.
THE SPACE
The indoor/outdoor setup features a 1,500square-foot interior with 35 seats, including eight at a wrap-around bar, and a 2,000-square-foot patio and green space designed with lounge furniture.
THE FOOD
Bento’s menu, inspired by his Hawaiian upbringing, bears an island vibe with dishes such as Huli Huli Chicken flavored with pineapple; ahi poke; coconut shrimp bao; grilled octopus with sesame ginger vinaigrette; fried pork belly with a Filipino adobo rub; Army Rice made with Spam and kimchi; chicken wings with garlic sauce; fish tacos; Maui short ribs; and a double-patty Boom Boom Burger with caramelized onions and cheese.
THE DRINKS
Cocktails are meant to suggest vacation partying: The Banana Hammock is made with rye and crème de banana; Sunsoaked on Montie Beach marries rum with ginger and passion fruit; and Spacion Wagon offers a gin punch with watermelon and bitters.
ONE MORE THING
The former Astro Inn has been renovated and redesigned as a boutique urban motel by partners Jivar Foty and George Giannukos. Room rates start at about $105; heightshousehotel.com.
