The world has gone crazy

Personal observation

Regarding “Texas alcohol-to-go bill signed into law by Gov. Abbott,” (May 12): Every day we have a deadly crash, yet the Texas Legislature and governor say, let’s provide an easier method for drivers to obtain alcohol — how about drive-thru and take out purchases of drinks.

We have road rage, murders, domestic violence, shootouts, yet the Legislature says, let adults open carry a firearm without permits. I’m pretty sure history documented how well that worked out for Texas in the 1800s.

An election was held in November 2020 with record numbers of Texans voting and no wide-spread voter fraud, yet the Legislature says, the current system is not working, we should limit voter participation to improve election integrity.

Extreme winter weather allowed the electrical grid to fail for millions of us, yet the Legislature is content to pass the cost on to the consumer and not provide for a meaningful fix.

During a pandemic millions of Texans are without health insurance, yet the Legislature and governor didn’t see it as a problem and refused to expand health care insurance.

All the while, the Legislature and governor are fixated on taking away a women’s rights to decide for herself regarding an abortion, denying transgender children, punishing cities and counties that disagree with their view of the world, gerrymandering voting districts, all while protecting the affluent and big money donors.

My personal observation is yes, the world has gone crazy.
