Texans waive veteran Ejiofor

-

The Texans have placed veteran defensive end Duke Ejiofor on waivers.

A sixth-round pick in 2018, Ejiofor, showed promise as a rookie playing outside linebacker but missed the past two seasons with injuries.

Ejiofor, a Houston native who played at Alief Taylor and Wake Forest, suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in 2019 and a torn ACL last season.

The Texans now have 15 defensive lineman on the roster, including eight who are in their first season with the team.

49ers call off their minicamp

The 49ers cut short their offseason program by a week when coach Kyle Shanahan sent his veterans home for the summer instead of having them stay in town for a mandatory minicamp next week.

Shanahan said Wednesday he made the decision mostly because of the strong turnout for the voluntary portion of the offseason instead of as a direct reaction to significant injuries that sidelined safety Tarvarius Moore and offensive lineman Justin Skule on Monday.
