Credit union opens branch near tech employers in City Place

First Tech Federal Credit Union, a San Jose, Calif.-based credit union serving technology oriented companies such as HP, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Microsoft, Amazon and Google relocated its Texas branch to a 2,188-square-foot space on the street level at 1701 at City Plaza Drive. It joins Island Grill and an Edward Jones branch in the 10-story American Bureau of Shipping building in the central, 60-acre core of City Place being developed by a joint venture of Patrinely Group, USAA Real Estate and CDC Houston.

“We’re excited to relocate our Texas branch to one of the Houston area’s most dynamic communitie­s, already home to HP Inc. and soon the global headquarte­rs for another key partner, Hewlett Packard Enterprise,” First Tech Vice President of Sales and Service Chris Mantie said in an announceme­nt.

FiiZ Drinks, a specialty soda shop chain with operations in Utah, Idaho, Colorado and Nevada, leased 1,500 square feet in Hillcrest at Spring Cypress, at 9702 Spring Cypress Road, for its first Houston-area location. Sarah Thobae with Weitzman represente­d the landlord. FiiZ Drinks was represente­d by Hannah Tosch with Colliers.

FiiZ Drinks, which sells specialty sodas, frozen drinks, Italian sodas, salty snacks and desserts, joins Brooklyn Pizza, Code Ninjas and Raw Gym in the center.

Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming opened a store at 950 Pine Market Ave. in the Woodforest community. It is the chain’s 11th store in the Houston area. Franchisee­s Greg and Ginger Davis operate the store, along with others in College Park and Conroe.

As part of the grand opening, the store will donate 1,000 pounds of dog food to the Friends of Faye and Camo Animal Rescue groups.

Fleet Feet Houston ,a store specializi­ng in running and walking shoes, clothes and gear, will move its Champions store to 3,109 square feet at 122 Vintage Park Blvd. from 8312-B Louetta Road in late summer. The move gives the company a larger space near trails at the Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve.

Jersey Mike’s Subs opened at 14044 Grant Road in Cypress. The shop is operated by franchise owner Cody Lovins.

Saladworks, a national chain offering create-your-own options, including salads, wraps, grain bowls and soups, opened in Riverstone Place, at 18802 University Blvd. in Sugar Land. The franchise location is operated by University of Houston graduate Venus Allana.

Oak Street Health ,a primary care medical provider, leased 9,000 square feet at Fondren Marketplac­e Shopping Center, 11092 Fondren, for a second Houston location. Jason Gaines of NAI Partners represente­d the landlord, SSS Fondren Marketplac­e. Thad Mai of Shop Cos. represente­d the tenant. Opening is planned in 2022.

Black Rock Coffee Bar has leased 2,782 square feet in the Easton Commons Shopping Center, at 8542 Texas 6 North. Matthew Parsons of JLL represente­d the tenant. Wulfe & Co. represente­d the landlord.

Saltgrass Steak House leased a 5,000-square-foot building at 8506 Syms St., Fulshear. J.J. McDermott and David Meyers of NewQuest Properties represente­d the landlord, QSR Real Estate Holdings.

MOD Pizza leased 2,786 square feet in Richmond Town Plaza, at U.S. 59 and FM 762, Richmond, from NewQuest Properties. Bob Conwell and Austen Baldridge of NewQuest Properties represente­d the landlord. Chris Reyes and Tyler Trevino of Shop Cos. represente­d the tenant.
