DORIS FAYE BRINGOLF

1932-2021

-

Doris Faye Judd Bringolf, age 89, went to her heavenly home on September 8, 2021 in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was born August 9, 1932 in Whitesboro, Texas, the daughter of James Kelsey Judd and Pearl A. Putman.

Doris graduated from Whitesboro High School and following graduation moved to Dallas, Texas where she worked for Southern Bell as a switchboard operator. She met her beloved husband, Richard James Bringolf at the famous Pig Stand Drive In. They married in 1953 in Oceanside San Diego, California where Richard was stationed in the Marine Corps. Upon his discharge they settled in Arlington, Texas and welcomed their first two children, Jimmy and Joni. They then made the decision to move to Houston where their third child Donna was born. Doris and Richard were married 36 years until Richard’s death on December 25, 1989.

Above all else Doris loved being outside. She would often be in her beloved garden from sun up to sun down taking only short breaks when the Texas sun was at its peak. There were many times when she would spontaneously decide that a bush or plant was “not happy” in its current location and transplant it to a different spot without thought to its size or the amount of work it involved because she loved

the challenge. She was also a voracious reader of anything regarding old Hollywood. Doris loved to tell her stories of her time as a switchboard operator and conversations she would inadvertently overhear.

Doris was always and forever a country girl at heart and never forgot where she came from – the little town of Whitesboro, Texas and the people she so loved there.

In addition to her husband Richard, she was preceded in death by her parents, James Kelsey Judd and Pearl Judd, sister, Betty Jean Judd, her twin brother, Morris Judd and her son, Richard James Bringolf II (Jimmy). She is survived by her brother Lee Thomas Judd and wife Carol, daughters, Joni Stadler and Donna Wilson; sons in law John Stadler and Roy Wilson; grandchildren Roy Gene Wilson, Jr. (Gene) his wife Valerie, Jared James Wilson and his fiancée Erica Garcia and Heather Ann Bringolf; great grandchildren Emily Wilson, Nichole Wilson, Lauren Wilson, Chloe Massey and Sam Massey. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and talked about them with great pride.

Services will be held at Forest Park Woodlawn in the Chapel, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023 on Monday, September 20, 2021. There will be a visitation at 1:00 p.m. with services and burial to follow at 2:00 p.m.
