Boys
Luke Martin, Sr., Dickinson
Notable:
Martin rushed for 233 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries during a 48-27 victory over previously unbeaten Dobie on Friday. The senior signal-caller also passed for 143 yards and two scores. Dickinson opens District 24-6A action on Friday at Clear Falls.
What coach John Snelson said: “Luke took advantage of some very good blocking to make some outstanding runs. He showed toughness down the stretch to lead us to a hard-fought victory.”

Matthew Golden, Sr., Klein Cain:
Golden, a TCU commit, hauled in seven catches for 187 yards and a pair of touchdowns during the Hurricanes’ 63-28 victory over Katy Taylor on Friday.
Santana Scott, Jr., Morton Ranch: Scott accounted for 472 allpurpose yards, including 240 rushing, and five total touchdowns during a 41-40 loss to Lake Creek on
Thursday.
Zain Hamdani, Jr., Bellaire: Hamdani took first place at the Spring Branch ISD Invitational on Saturday, winning the 5,000-meter race with a time of 15 minutes, 37.36 seconds.
Girls
Madison Hrncir, Sr., Cy-Fair
Notable: Hrncir had a pair of strong performances during District 17-6A victories for the Bobcats. She finished with 22 kills, 10 digs and five aces during a four-set win over Cypress Creek on Wednesday. She then had 16 kills and 12 digs during a threeset win over Jersey Village on Friday.
What coach Donna Benotti said: “Maddie is the heart of our team. She has played every position, except middle blocker, in our program. Maddie has been a three-year varsity starter. She was out with an ankle injury for almost all of our preseason. We are so happy to have her back on the court. She brings so much confidence and leadership to the court. She is a six-rotation savvy hitter that sees the block and court well.”
Other nominees
Carson Parker, Sr., Kingwood: Parker took first place at the Andy Wells Invitational on Saturday, winning the 5,000meter race with a time of 19 minutes, 26.47 seconds to lead Kingwood to the team title.
Lilly Swarts, Jr., St. Agnes: Swarts won the two-mile race at the Cypress Christian Warrior Invitational on Saturday, crossing the finish line at 12 minutes, 28.55 seconds. St. Agnes also took first place as a team.
Brynn Botkin, Sr., Magnolia: Botkin collected 12 kills, 16 digs and four blocks during a sweep of Paetow on Wednesday and then 10 kills and 12 digs during a sweep against Rudder on Friday.
