Dr. David John Katrana, 75, of Boerne, TX and formerly of Houston, died on September 25, 2021 in Boerne.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Boerne; daughters, Kim McNeese of Allen, TX, Nicole Katrana-Pickett, (Seth) of Fairview, TX, step-daughters, Lauren Alley, (Michael) of Houston, TX and Libby Paul (Greg) of Manhattan KS; brother, Dr. John N. Katrana (Barb) of LaCrosse, WI, and sister, Gail Katrana James (Cal) of Estes Park, CO; grandchild­ren, Caden, Cale, Taylor Kate, Brenden, Emily and Allison; and nieces and nephews.

He attended what was then known as Shattuck Military School in?Fairbault, MN, and graduated with honors from Northweste­rn University Medical School in 1974. Practicing for over 46 years at Rosewood and Memorial Hospital in Houston, David, fondly known as Dr. K, was a board-certified plastic and reconstruc­tive surgeon. He retired from practice in 2017.

David was an avid tennis player, enjoyed a round of golf and at age 50 ran the Houston marathon. His favorite childhood memories were of his family’s Canadian summer cabin, and it was there that he developed his love of fishing and spending time with family at the lake. He will be remembered for providing the best medical care to his patients and always having a witty one-liner ready at the most unexpected times.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciati­on to the many caregivers at Alamo Hospice and to Dr. Ben Stahl, who provided David with excellent care during his extended battle with heart disease.

A private memorial service will be held in Houston at St. Francis Episcopal Church.
