ANNA FRANCES GREMBOWIEC

Anna Frances Grembowiec, of Houston, passed away on September 16, 2021. She was 94 years of age.

Anna was born in Many, LA on June 15, 1927 as one of thirteen children to Cleve and Winnie Davis Hubley.

Anna attended Northweste­rn University in Natchitoch­es, LA in 1948. She moved to Houston working for Humble Oil and Gas Corporatio­n. She later married John Stanley Grembowiec in 1956. They had three children Alan, Gene and Mary.

Anna was a vibrant woman who loved and served her family, her church, her community and her Lord above all else. Anna had a deep appreciati­on for her Catholic faith. She and her husband were actively involved in their parish at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

She helped her husband John with his own materials handling business for more than 20 years.

Anna was an energetic and courageous woman. In 1975 she organized boycotts for the Pro-Life Movement to speak out for the unborn. In 1976 she organized another boycott with a major department store to speak out for decency. She stood bold and strong to be that voice of righteousn­ess and won her case.

Anna was very connected to her Sharpstown community, planting seeds for the community future. She had a passion for neighborho­od beautifica­tion projects. In the 1980’s she started the very successful “Adopt a Tree Program.” Later Anna was awarded “Citizen of the Year for the Greater Southwest Chamber of Commerce.”

Anna loved her visits home to Many, LA to see her many loved ones. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Grembowiec; son, Gene Grembowiec; brothers, Walter Earl Hubley, Gene Hubley, Jack Hubley, Grover Hubley, Charles Hubley, C.J. Hubley; sisters, Winfred Hubley Duke, Helen Hubley Dowden, Freda Hubley Guidry, Hazel Hubley Yarbrough.

She is survived by her son, Alan Grembowiec; daughter, Mary Gray; sisters, Jo Hubley Miller, Lynna Hubley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be directed to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 9am until 11am at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet Street

in Bellaire. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12PM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 8200 Roos Road in Houston. Burial will take place at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston following the service.
