A 17-year-old girl’s twin brother was charged with murder after she was fatally stabbed Wednesday morning in her Katy-area home, according to authorities.

The deceased twin has been identified as Meghan Elliott, and her brother, Benjamin Elliott, has been booked in Harris County Jail, according to a release from the Harris County Sheriff's Office. A motive has not yet been determined, according to the office.

Records of a 911 call show the brother phoned and said he stabbed his sister, per the release.

The brother was doing CPR on his sister in her bedroom when Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the home in the 4100 block of Brown Meadow Court about 4:45 a.m., according to Senior Deputy Thomas Gilliland. Her neck had several stab wounds, the sheriff ’s office said in a release.

The parents were asleep and woke up to their son doing CPR and yelling for help, Gilliland said.

EMS was called and performed life-saving measures, but the girl was pronounced dead, Gilliland said.

Investigators searched the home, just north of Clay Road near Greenhouse Road in west Harris County, after obtaining a warrant, Gilliland said.

The brother was at Lockwood — a Harris County Sheriff's Office facility — and was cooperating with investigators, according to Gilliland. His parents were also there and have an attorney, he added.

Deputies have recovered the weapon, according to Gilliland.

One of the family’s neighbors, Edgardo Romero, said everyone was surprised by what happened. He didn’t know the teenagers personally, but he said they’re normal, nice people who would say hello and goodbye.

Robert Dawson, another neighbor in the Cypress Meadow neighborhood, said they’re a private family and wonderful neighbors. He said he’d previously seen the kids walk home from school together in the afternoon.

The only interaction Dawson said he’d had with the girl was when she was out pulling weeds and they’d said hi. Dawson, who said his daughter was a homicide victim, was “devastated” when he found out about the teenage girl’s death Wednesday.

The 80-year-old, who said he’s lived in the neighborhood between 10 and 15 years, has been happy with the area and comfortable with his neighbors. He said what happened was a “a total shock.”

Ricardo Castillo, who hasn’t been in the area long and doesn’t know the teenagers, said it was a painful situation.

“It hurts. They had a life ahead of them,” he said in Spanish.
